Calling all web3-native and web3-curious developers, NEAR Hacks is coming to a city near you! After two successful NEAR HACKS in Miami and Austin, our next stop is New York City!

The NEAR Hacks US Tour, a yearlong series of hacker houses / hackathons in key cities across the US, will give builders a space to work, collaborate on projects, and learn from some of the best and brightest minds in Web3. The US Tour begins with NEAR Hacks NYC from September 22 to September 25.

Join us in building the future of Web3 for a chance to win thousands in prizes! Sign up for office hours and catch workshops from the industry’s leading builders, teachers, and funders. We encourage developers from varying backgrounds & skill sets, especially those with the knowledge of Rust, Solidity, JavaScript, and ReactJS.

Axelar 1st place

For using the Axelar SDK and Aurora blockchain

1st place - $2,500
Axelar delivers secure cross-chain communication for Web3. Cross-chain communication means you can build a complete experience for your users that lets them interact with any asset, any application, on any connected chain with one click. Use Axelar’s General Message Passing (GMP) feature to enable dApps to call smart contracts cross-chain, delivering any payload or token transfer. These cross-chain contract calls are currently possible between the following networks: Aurora, Moonbeam, Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, Fantom, Binance. Some possibilities of cross-chain DApps built with GMP include DeFi apps, NFTs, wallets, and more!

Projects submitted must be newly created, or must have been significantly updated during the Hackathon
Projects must use Axelar to connect with Aurora (as either the source or destination chain in cross-chain GMP calls)
Bounty winners must complete KYC to receive the prize
A public GitHub Repo is included in the submission
A readme with instructions for accessing a public deployment of the project, or instructions for building and setting up the project locally (the project must be buildable by the judges)
A demo video showcasing the project (optional but highly recommended)
The project must use Axelar in a non-trivial role

Metapool (1st Place)

1st Place: $1,500 in stNEAR
___________________________
A smart contract solution that integrates stNEAR token, using it as a value proposition. Some examples of Decentralized Finance (DeFi)solutions that can use stNEAR are:
- Lending
- Decentralized Exchanges
- Stable coins
- Synthetic assets
- Insurance
Others that you can propose on your own.

These are not the only way that you can use stNEAR, in case you can propose your own solution without being related DeFi .

Each integration point is valued from low, medium and high; that can be taken into account by the Meta Pool core team.

Payout Scheme: Payment will be done in 5 working days from the winner's announcement.
I want to integrate stNEAR, what should I do?
stNEAR can be used at Layer-1 of NEAR Protocol or in the Aurora Network, a Layer 2 Ethereum Virtual Machine running over NEAR migrating your tokens through the rainbow bridge.

Taking this into consideration, you can develop a solution for Layer 1 using RUST or Assembly Script as suggested coding languages, or you can use Solidity in Aurora Network to develop a solution.

These are the documentation we suggest you and your team should read to learn about NEAR Protocol, fungible tokens and stNEAR token:
